Hope you had an amazing Sunday, mine was awesome. It was a Communion Service today and I had an awesome time, got home and started craving jollof rice (Nigerian Jollof). So, there I was relaxing on YouTube as always and this party jollof rice recipe popped up, coupled with the fact that I only had croissants with peanut butter all day, my mind was fixed on cooking my own Jollof and my own Jollof I cooked as the cookist that I sometimes am. The joy after was everything as I satisfied my craving, I mean it is one thing to have a craving and it is another to satisfy it right? I thought of inserting a picture but a girl has no strength for food photography.
Moving on, the sermon in Service today was on “Understanding the Power of Thanksgiving”. To be very honest, that sermon was for me and it came right on time. Amidst all that was said, what stuck most was about sowing and reaping, as everything Abba does is surrounded by the law of seedtime and harvest time. Apparently, something must be given to receive something, the same way you must plant and water to harvest. Thanksgiving involves gratitude to Abba and acknowledgement of His presence, it may be through prayers, praises, our substance or our services. But there is a certainty, all these precedes receiving.
I was a bit down on Friday evening after getting a certain email, as I was trying to wrap my head around the possibilities of getting answers to some requests, and having these answers work according to the desires of my heart. There are times when you need something to work in your favour or you need an urgent answer to that request, offer thanksgiving Sweetie, it works all day every day. I know it is funny how I know this, but still allow my worries to sometimes weigh me down, that is where doubts come in, but Philippians 4:6-7 always saves the day.
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Offer THANKSGIVING already fam…
